Be Like Blippi Tour

If you have a toddler in your house, you already know, Blippi is coming to Louisville and it is going to be a whole thing. The Louisville Palace is one of the most gorgeous venues in the city, which makes it an even more special night out with your little one. Tickets are on sale now, so don't wait on this one.

Derby FamFest

Friday, April 3 | 4:00–8:00 PM Floyd County Family YMCA | 1 YMCA Drive, New Albany, IN

Right here in Southern Indiana on the same night as Blippi, the Kentucky Derby Festival FamFest is coming to New Albany and it is completely FREE. Think inflatables, face painting, kids activities, food trucks, and a chance to meet the Derby royalty. This is the kind of event you just show up to and have the best time. No excuses.

Disney On Ice: Mickey's Search Party

April 10–12 | Multiple Show Times KFC Yum! Center | 1 Arena Plaza, Louisville, KY

This is the one your kids are going to be talking about all year. Disney On Ice: Mickey's Search Party brings Moana, Frozen, Toy Story, Coco, Aladdin, and so many more to life through world-class skating, high-flying acrobatics, and stunts you have to see to believe. Multiple shows are available across the weekend, and you can even add on a character experience with Moana before the show. Kids are welcome to dress up as their favorite Disney characters — and honestly, you should let them.

Spring Street Fest

Saturday, April 11 | Noon–9:30 PM 200 Block of Spring Street, Jeffersonville, IN

A free, outdoor spring festival right in the heart of downtown Jeffersonville, this is your classic perfect Saturday. Spring Street Fest brings together live music, local vendors, food trucks, and activities for the whole family. It runs all day into the evening, so come for lunch, stay for the music, and make a full day of it. No tickets, no cost, just good vibes.

The Fillies Children's Tea with the Derby Princesses

Sunday, April 12 | Time TBD Louisville, KY (tickets required — see link)

This one is pure magic for the little ones. The Fillies Children's Tea is back for 2026 and this year's theme is the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Girls and boys dress in their finest for an afternoon of royal fun that includes meeting and taking photos with the Kentucky Derby Festival Princesses, learning dining etiquette, walking a royal runway, live entertainment, and a keepsake photo to take home. Every child also receives a gift bag. This event is best for children ages 3 to 8, and tickets are on sale now. They sell out, so do not wait.

Thunder Over Louisville

Saturday, April 18 | Fireworks at Dusk Ohio River Waterfront, Louisville, KY

The big one. Thunder Over Louisville is one of the largest fireworks shows in North America, set to music over the Ohio River — and it never gets old. Grab your spot along the waterfront early, pack your snacks, and settle in for a show that will genuinely blow your kids away. It is loud, it is massive, it is iconic, and it is completely free. This is a SoIN and Louisville tradition for a reason.

Great BalloonFest: Balloon Glow

Thursday, April 23 & Friday, April 24 | Glow Begins at 9:00 PM Kroger's Fest-a-Ville, Louisville Waterfront | 101 Witherspoon St, Louisville, KY

If you want to close out the month with something truly unforgettable, this is it. Dozens of hot air balloons are set up on the waterfront, and as the pilots fire their burners the balloons light up against the night sky — synchronized to music. You can walk right out onto the field and get up close. It sounds cool on paper and then it completely blows you away in person. Admission is free with a Pegasus Pin ($7 in advance, $10 at the gate).
