FC Little League Baseball/Softball

  • 4/5 Beginner Softball/Baseball: This league is for girls and boys playing the game of softball/baseball for the first time. A tee will be used for all batters and the entire lineup will bat every inning. Teams will switch from offense to defense after the entire lineup has batted. The game will last two innings. Tee Ball is the entry level division for players, ages 4-5. The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game.  Every player bats off of a tee and every player plays in the field each inning. If the defensive team makes a play to record an out, the offensive player who gets out will go back to the dugout like in traditional softball/baseball. Tee Ball players use bats and softer balls (baseballs and softballs) designated specifically for use in this division. The roster size for a Tee Ball team averages 9-11 players, with a season featuring 1-2 practices per week with games played primarily on weekdays.  There are no wins or losses at this level.

  • Equipment Needed: Glove, batting helmet, bat, cleats

  • 5/6 Intro Softball/Baseball: Coach Pitch is one division up from Tee Ball for players, ages 5-6.  The experience is grounded in fun, fitness, and fundamentals while also being a key to growing a child’s love for the game.  The primary difference from tee-ball is that each player bats off of pitches thrown from their coach.  If the ball is not put into play after 4-5 pitches, the player will be allowed to hit off of a tee. If the defensive team makes a play to record an out, the offensive player who gets out will go back to the dugout like in traditional softball/baseball. The roster size for an Intro team averages 9-11 players, with a season featuring 1-2 practices per week with games played on weekdays and weekends.  There are no wins or losses at this level.

  • Equipment Needed: Glove, batting helmet, bat, cleats, fielding mask (softball only)

  • 7/8 PeeWee Softball: Our PeeWee division is a softball division for players ages 7-8. Peewee is a competitive division with outs, runs, wins and losses along with a post-season tournament.  Players hit off of the pitching machine at 35mph for the first half of the season, and then move to 37mph for the second half of the season.  The league encourages managers to place players at a variety of positions in both the infield and outfield. Games will be five innings max with no new inning starting after 1 hour 15 minutes. An 11" yellow softball is used. After the season, two All-Stars teams will be selected by coaches vote from this league, one 7-year-old team and one 8-year-old team.

  • Equipment Needed: Glove, batting helmet (with face guard), bat, cleats, fielding mask

  • 9/10 Minors Softball: The Minor division is an introduction to player pitching. The Minor division is competitive with outs, runs, wins and losses along with a post-season tournament.  In this division, coaches focus on the reinforcement of fundamental skills including pitching, catching, proper throwing motion, base running and proper swing mechanics. An 11" yellow softball is used. After the season, one All-Star team will be selected by coaches vote from this league.

  • Equipment Needed: Glove, batting helmet (with face guard), bat, cleats, fielding mask

  • 11/12 Majors Softball: The Major division is the highest level of softball at Floyds Knobs Community Club.  The Majors division is open to players who are 11 and 12 years old.  The Major division is a competitive play division with runs, outs, wins and losses along with a post-season tournament. In this division, players should demonstrate skill, leadership and maturity. Coaches focus on enhancing the player’s skills, rules knowledge and situational softball in a competitive environment. A 12” yellow softball is used. After the season, one All-Star team will be selected by coaches vote from this league.
