Monday, May 5
Toddler Time: 10-11am. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs, and other activities. This story time is designed for Toddlers, but all are welcome!
Sensory Friendly Story time: 4-4:45pm. Sensory Friendly Storytime is a special storytime for children who may have felt left out or nervous to go to other storytimes.
Give-a-Plant-Get-a-Plant: 9am-4pm. From Monday, May 5, 9 a.m. until Tuesday, May 13, 4 p.m. Jeffersonville Township Public Library will host Give a Plant/Get a Plant. The event will be hosted outdoors on the library’s 2nd floor terrace—east side. Any time during the event, you are invited to drop off excess houseplant starts and garden seedlings that might otherwise go to waste. Best of all, you can browse the plants others have dropped off and take some home, with no obligation to bring an item. While you are here, be sure to drop by our seed library for a seed packet and check out our garden programs. The library will provide a limited number of plant containers. Do plan to bring a box or other container for your finds in case the library’s container supply runs low.
Music Bingo Mondays: 6:30-8:30pm. Derby City Pizza New Albany. Prizes: $5 for single, $5 for double bingo, $10 for coverall.
Tuesday, May 6
Babies and Books: 10am-10:30am. Join us on Tuesday mornings as we sing, read board books, and have fun learning early literacy! Registration not required.
It’s a Small World Storytime: 11am-12pm. You're invited to join us each week as we learn about themes like kindness, empathy, and family through different stories, songs, and crafts from around the world. This storytime is designed with kids ages 3-6 in mind, but all kids and families are welcome. Join us every Tuesday at 11am to discover if it really is a small world after all. Registration not required.
Sew, What’s Going On: 5-6:30pm. Are you ready to learn beginning quilt techniques? Join this monthly class for all ages! In this class you will learn beginner quilting techniques. You will learn hand sewing, how to cut a pattern, how to use a sewing machine, and much more. In the process, you will be making a different quilt square each month. Each quilt square can be a stand alone, used as a hot pad or a square in a larger project. The class will be offered monthly, with a different quilt square taught at each meeting. Participants may choose to attend one class, many classes or all twelve. Those choosing to make all 12 quilt squares will have a complete "calendar quilt" at the end of the year. Class registration is required each month. (If registering a child, please register only your child aged 9-18 so we can purchase the correct amount of materials. The accompanying adult should NOT be registered.) All registrants aged 9-12 must attend with a responsible adult and have basic sewing knowledge. Registration is required.
Pajama Time Stories: 6pm-6:45pm. Join us for a Pajama Party every Tuesday evening at the New Albany Library! Come in your pajamas and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal if you like. Registration not required.

Pizza & Chill at Wine Shop: 5-9pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Unwind with us every Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:00pm for our Pizza & Chill Special! Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious flatbread pizza for just $20 . Plus, take advantage of our 1/2 off bottles of wine in-house to keep the good vibes flowing.
Kids Eat Free Tuesday: 4-10pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Every Tuesday, for every adult meal purchased, one child under the age of 12 can order a meal from the kid’s menu for free.

Wednesday, May 7
Wiggle Wednesday Storytime: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. to wiggle our wiggles out, read stories and sing songs! Registration not required.
Kid's Club : 4:30-5:30pm. Come hang out each Wednesday 4:30pm to 5:30pm and enjoy a different activity each week. Activities will range from play doh to crafts to LEGOs! For Kids ages 6-11 years old. No registration required.
Beginning Genealogy Workshop: 6-7:30pm. Join us on Wednesday, May 7th, for this introductory workshop on conducting basic genealogical research. Learn about a number of topics including where to start, how to create a research plan, types of records and resources, and who to ask for help. A portion of the workshop will include a tutorial on how to use the Indiana Room website resources for your personal research and what resources are available at the Indiana Room to support your family research. Registration is required.

Wine After Work: 5-8pm. The Depot at NoCo. Enjoy a mid-week "wine down" with live jazz music and discounted pricing on wine - $5/glass, $20/bottle. Free admission. All ages welcome.

Thursday, May 8
Music and Movement: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Thursdays to help your child learn some basic rhythms that will help with early literacy before they begin Kindergarten. Ms. Ashley will use bells, rhythm sticks, scarves and more for these exercises! Registration not required.
Make & Take: Victorian Handkerchief Cards: 1pm & 6pm. The Cultural Arts Center. Join us for a creative afternoon of crafting and socializing. This month we will be creating two Victorian Handkerchief Cards and envelopes. Learn to use Makerspace scoring boards to make envelopes. All supplies provided free, no special skills needed. Registration required.
Artistry Unleashed: Silk Road Mongolian Landscapes: 4:30-6pm. The Cultural Arts Center. Join us at The Cultural Arts Center for an afternoon to learn about a different type of art each month, with a reading of a book about the art or artist for inspiration. You will be able to create your own imaginative masterpiece! All art pieces will be different, because everyone sees and feels art differently. This program is a chance to learn and be creative. All supplies will be provided! School Age K-5. Registration required.
Teen Scene: 6-7:30pm. Hang out with us every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Teen Scene! Take a break in the middle of the week with a new activity, game, craft, or anything else we dream up, plus snacks! All teens are welcome (11-18 years old). Registration not required.
Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch
Toddler Storytime - Mothers: 10:30-11:15am. Clarksville. Library kids ages 0-4 and their caregivers are invited to join us for a Storytime all about Mom! We will sing songs, read books, and create a craft that can be given to Mom or Grandma for Mother's Day!
Adult Craft - Canvas Book Tote: 6-7pm. Join Adult Services Librarian, Nolan Brewer, for our May Adult Craft program! To gear up for the Summer Reading Program, we will be making bookish canvas tote bags. You will be able to choose from a variety of printed vinyl designs to iron onto a provided tote bag. Registration required.
Twilight Thursday: 5pm. Churchill Downs. Twilight Thursdays return with live Thoroughbred racing, $2 select domestic beer, live music and an array of locally popular food trucks in The Paddock Plaza each Thursday of the Spring Meet! Tickets required.

Silent Book Club: 6-8pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Having a “silent” book club allows everyone flexibility to come and go as they please each week while getting to see both new and familiar faces. This means everyone gets to bring their current read and read at their own pace. We will be pouring some fun wines and sharing some yummy snacks! Feel free to bring whatever you need to be comfortable!

Morning Stories: 10-11am. Foster a love of learning through stories! Join us for books and songs followed by activities that encourage the development of early literacy skills. For ages 3-6. No registration required.
Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch
Friends of the Library Book Sale: 10am-1pm. The Friends of the Library, which is a volunteer support group of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, host a Book Sale four times a month. The sales are held on the 2nd & 4th Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Our book sale room is located at the South end of the main library (closest to Court Avenue) on the lower level.
Let's Learn @ the library with Author David Kummer: 11am-12pm. A native of Madison, IN, David now resides in New Albany, IN. When he's not busy teaching English fulltime to 9th graders, he can be found writing or spending time outdoors communing with nature. David's newest book - The Band - was released on April 4, 2025 - is 460 pages in length and classified as young adult fiction. David considers his books to be fast-paced and easy-to-read with shocking twists and unpredictable endings. After David's talk, he will have copies of The Misery, The Silent Forest, and The Band available for purchase. In terms of payment, he can take either cash, Venmo, or card payments.

Book Sale: 9am-1pm. The Friends of the Library's outdoor book sales are back! Find incredible deals and a great selection of books. Stop by The Floyd County Library’s main parking lot on Saturday, May 10th from 9 AM – 1 PM. Regular prices are $1 for hardback books, 50 cents for paperback books, and 25 cents for children’s books, unless otherwise marked. New books will be brought out throughout the sale. Rain date: Saturday, May 17th.
Teen Science Cafe - National Science Foundation STEMfest day: 2:30-4:30pm. Celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the National Science Foundation with the Teen Science Cafe Network! The Floyd County Library has been chosen as one of the preferred sites to host this FREE program! We will be livestreaming our event around the country as we learn about Climate Science. Participants can also check in with other TSC events running simultaneously. The program is highly interactive, mostly hands-on! All supplies for this exploration is provided by the NSF. Throo the Zoo 5k: 8am. Louisville Zoo. Dash on over to the Zoo to take part in Louisville’s only road race that doesn’t just go around the Zoo but actually “Throo” the Zoo. Enjoy an early morning adventure where you watch as the Zoo wakes up! Join us on May 10th at 8:00 am for one amazing Louisville Zoo experience.
Touch a Truck: 9:30am-12pm. 2043 Silver St, New Albany, IN. From mighty construction trucks to blazing fire engines, this event offers an exciting hands-on experience. Free event.
Kentucky Kingdom Opening Day: 10am-5pm. Join us for Kentucky Kingdom's Opening Day to be among the first to explore our NEW land, including 3 new family rides, 10 reimagined rides, a 4,800 square foot playground, 2 upgraded dining venues, and plenty of shaded seating areas. Tickets required.

Yoga at the Falls Summer Series: 9-10am. Falls of the Ohio State Park. Enjoy yoga on the deck this summer overlooking the majestic Falls of the Ohio with the Louisville skyline as your backdrop. Led by experienced instructor Dre Smith, our yoga summer series will foster a deep mind-body connection through ancient yoga practices, promoting inner harmony and well-being. Classes are inclusive for all skill levels and are free to Foundation members. Non-members are asked to make a donation. Calling all Turkeys: 1-2pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. A must-see program! Jarrett Manek, the interpretive naturalist at O’Bannon Woods State Park, presents an educational and hilarious program on the lifestyles of our wild turkeys. This free program will be held in the outdoor classroom near the collecting piles. If bad weather, it will be held in the Interpretive Center.

Louisville Bats vs Omaha: 1:05pm. Slugger Field. Mothers Day & Kids Club Day. Carnations to first 500 mothers. All 2025 Kids Club Members are asked to join us for every Sunday home game for Kids Day which includes a free kids meal! Tickets required.
Sunday Funday Cruise: 1-3pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Turn your Sunday into #SundayFunDay aboard the historic Belle of Louisville! Cruise away the afternoon as you take in the sights and sounds of the Ohio River. Whether you choose to enjoy a delicious buffet meal option or just sit back and feel the breeze on our outdoor decks, wrap up your weekend your way.
Spring Bird Hike: 3-4pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. Bird observer Mike Gibson will lead a hike where you will look for birds in and around the fossil beds, as well as seek out warblers and other migratory species in our woods. Learn about Merlin and other bird call apps for your phone.
Singin’ In the Rain: 6pm, Derby Dinner Playhouse. Hollywood of the 1920’s is the setting for this light-hearted and romantic MGM classic filled with show-stopping dance numbers and memorable music. Grab your umbrella, it will rain on stage! Tickets Required.
