Monday, May 12

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Toddler Time: 10-11am. Join us for stories, rhymes, songs, and other activities. This story time is designed for Toddlers, but all are welcome!

    • Tails and Tales - Read to Pickles the Therapy Dog: 4-5pm. Galena Branch. Come read to therapy dog, Pickles! She is a 4 year old lab who loves to have stories read to her! Anyone can come read to her! Each person who signs up will have a 10 minute time slot to read one on one for up to 6 readers each visit. Registration required.

    • Sensory Friendly Story time: 4-4:45pm. Sensory Friendly Storytime is a special storytime for children who may have felt left out or nervous to go to other storytimes.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Give-a-Plant-Get-a-Plant: 9am-4pm. From Monday, May 5, 9 a.m. until Tuesday, May 13, 4 p.m. Jeffersonville Township Public Library will host Give a Plant/Get a Plant. The event will be hosted outdoors on the library’s 2nd floor terrace—east side. Any time during the event, you are invited to drop off excess houseplant starts and garden seedlings that might otherwise go to waste. Best of all, you can browse the plants others have dropped off and take some home, with no obligation to bring an item. While you are here, be sure to drop by our seed library for a seed packet and check out our garden programs. The library will provide a limited number of plant containers. Do plan to bring a box or other container for your finds in case the library’s container supply runs low. 

    • Paint Your Own Terracotta Pot: 4:30-5:30pm. Clarksville Branch. Join Ms. Monica as we paint our own terracotta planter pots. These tiny planters are the perfect size for an adorable succulent, but first we have to get crafty and make them cute! Registration is required for this teens only event. 

  • The Nation's Guest - the return of The Marquis de Lafayette: 1:15-4pm. Big Four Station Park. There will be music, a short speech by Lafayette before we proceed to Veteran's Memorial Park for a Dedication of Unknown Revolutionary War Patriots and the planting of two trees. Return to Big Four Station Park for food and drink (non alcoholic) and toasts to Washington, Nathanael Greene and more!

  • The Return - A Beatles Tribute Band: 6pm. Derby Dinner Playhouse. Tickets required.

  • Music Bingo Mondays: 6:30-8:30pm. Derby City Pizza New Albany. Prizes: $5 for single, $5 for double bingo, $10 for coverall.

  • WWE Monday Night Raw: 7:30pm. KFC Yum! Center. Tickets required.

Tuesday, May 13

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Babies and Books: 10am-10:30am. Join us on Tuesday mornings as we sing, read board books, and have fun learning early literacy! Registration not required.

    • Vintage Cafe - Fresh Cut Flower Arranging: 10-11am. Vintage Cafe is a monthly program for adults where we explore different hobbies and activities while socializing and have a fun time. This month's activity is to learn about arranging fresh cut flowers. Flowers, vases and tools are provided. Registration required.

    • It’s a Small World Storytime: 11am-12pm. You're invited to join us each week as we learn about themes like kindness, empathy, and family through different stories, songs, and crafts from around the world. This storytime is designed with kids ages 3-6 in mind, but all kids and families are welcome. Join us every Tuesday at 11am to discover if it really is a small world after all. Registration not required.

    • Embroidery 101: 5:30-6:30pm. Join us at the Galena Branch to learn the basics of the embroidery machine and how to monogram your projects! Registration is required.

    • Pajama Time Stories: 6pm-6:45pm. Join us for a Pajama Party every Tuesday evening at the New Albany Library! Come in your pajamas and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal if you like. Registration not required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

Whether or not you've operated a sewing machine, or if you've attempted simple sewing projects and weren't satisfied with the results, you're invited to attend our class to learn basic sewing skills. Registration required.

    ½ Priced Bottle Tuesdays: 3-10pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Every Tuesday ½ priced bottles of wine in house. Bring a friend (or two!) and come enjoy the Wine Shop.

  • Pizza & Chill at Wine Shop: 5-9pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Unwind with us every Tuesday from 5:00pm-9:00pm for our Pizza & Chill Special! Enjoy a glass of wine and a delicious flatbread pizza for just $20 . Plus, take advantage of our 1/2 off bottles of wine in-house to keep the good vibes flowing.

  • Kids Eat Free Tuesday: 4-10pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Every Tuesday, for every adult meal purchased, one child under the age of 12 can order a meal from the kid’s menu for free.

  • Music Bingo: 7pm, Dog Haus Biergarten New Albany. Join us every Tuesday for MUSIC BINGO!

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Wiggle Wednesday Storytime: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m. to wiggle our wiggles out, read stories and sing songs! Registration not required.

    • Stories at Silver Street Park: 10-11am. Join us for stories, crafts, and fun the second Wednesday of every month from 10-11am at Silver Street Park in New Albany. 

    • Kid's Club : 4:30-5:30pm. Come hang out each Wednesday 4:30pm to 5:30pm and enjoy a different activity each week. Activities will range from play doh to crafts to LEGOs! For Kids ages 6-11 years old. No registration required.

    • Make-In-Take: Victorian Handkerchief Cards: 5:30-6:45pm. Join us for a creative afternoon of crafting and socializing. This month we will be creating two Victorian Handkerchief Cards and envelopes. Learn to use Makerspace scoring boards to make envelopes. All supplies provided free, no special skills needed. Registration required.

    • Family Education Classes with CCYS: 6-8pm. Join us each Wednesday for free, in-person Family Education & Support Classes, presented by the Clark County Youth Shelter and Family Services. These supportive and engaging sessions are perfect for parents, guardians, and anyone in a caregiving role. The 9-week series covers topics such as community resources, healthy discipline, communication skills, understanding misbehavior, and setting children up for school success. Participants are entered into a monthly prize drawing for each session they attend!

  • Charlestown Farmer’s Market: 3-6pm. 1370 Monroe St., Charlestown, IN. Recurring weekly on Wednesdays.

  • Recbar 812 Bingo: 7pm, RecBar 812 (New Albany). Free to play. Free to win! Come join us every Wednesday for Bar Bingo. Prizes for every round. Thursday, May 15

  • Library Events - Floyd County

    • Music and Movement: 10-10:45am. Join us at Galena on Thursdays to help your child learn some basic rhythms that will help with early literacy before they begin Kindergarten. Ms. Ashley will use bells, rhythm sticks, scarves and more for these exercises! Registration not required.

    • Kids Coding Club: 4:30-5:30pm. Join us for an introduction to coding and computational thinking. We will be using the non-profit organization, Code.org. There are limited spaces available, registration is required. For ages 7-10. Registration required.

    • Art History Illustrated, Ancient Propaganda: Art that Made Men into Gods: 5:30-7pm. The Cultural Arts Center. How did ancient Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Roman rulers use the media to convince their people that they were divine? Were ancient people just easier to fool than we are? Take a look inside the visual campaigns of important kings and emperors, like Naram-Sin of Akkad, Pharaoh Hatshepsut, Alexander the Great, and Caesar Augustus, with art historian Brenda Edgar, to see how they were able to get their subjects to believe that they were gods on earth. This program is intended for adults. Registration required.

    • Teen Scene: 6-7:30pm. Hang out with us every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Teen Scene! Take a break in the middle of the week with a new activity, game, craft, or anything else we dream up, plus snacks! All teens are welcome (11-18 years old). Registration not required.

  • Library Events - Jeffersonville Branch

    • Beaded Jewelry Class: 5:30-7pm. Join us on this date for another special Jewelry Making Craft Class with Kelly Avery-Boyd! Registration required.

    • Founding Era Book Club: 6-7pm. The club is for adults who are interested in the period from approximately 1750-1850.

  • Twilight Thursday: 5pm. Churchill Downs. Twilight Thursdays return with live Thoroughbred racing, $2 select domestic beer, live music and an array of locally popular food trucks in The Paddock Plaza each Thursday of the Spring Meet! Tickets required.

  • Silent Book Club: 6-8pm, Wine Shop (New Albany). Having a “silent” book club allows everyone flexibility to come and go as they please each week while getting to see both new and familiar faces. This means everyone gets to bring their current read and read at their own pace. We will be pouring some fun wines and sharing some yummy snacks!     • Friends of the Library Book Sale: 10am-1pm. The Friends of the Library, which is a volunteer support group of the Jeffersonville Township Public Library, host a Book Sale four times a month. The sales are held on the 2nd & 4th Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Our book sale room is located at the South end of the main library (closest to Court Avenue) on the lower level.

  • Food Truck Festival: 5-9:30pm. Georgetown Park. 9111 Lois Lane, Georgetown, IN 47122. 15-20 food trucks from around the State of Indiana are coming to Georgetown Park for our second annual Food Truck Festival and Concert with Friends of Fred's Food Truck Association. The food trucks will be lined up along Lois Lane around the softball field fence. The concert features local Southern Indiana Band, The Skinny, who will begin performing at 6:30 pm. The Skinny will be performing on a large stage in the middle of the softball field so please bring your lawn chairs. This concert is kid friendly and there will be a kid zone with bounce houses and games!   • New Albany Summer Farmer’s Market: 8am-12pm. 210 E Market St. New Albany. Summer Session of the New Albany Local Farmers Market - Wines, Slushies, baked goods, fresh veggies, flowers, meats, food truck, etc.

  • Saturdays on the Square: 10am-1pm. Check out local vendors on the Charlestown City Square every Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Saturdays on the Square Pop-up Market. Vendors range from local artists, craft makers, bakers, food, authors, civic groups, and more.

  • Afternoon Cruise: 12-2pm, Belle of Louisville Riverboats. Take it slow under the Southern sun with a delightful cruise along the Ohio River in Louisville. Your whole crew will enjoy the experience. Join us for a fun, informal excursion with free Adventure Passports for the kids.   • Saving America’s Largest Salamander - The Hellbender: 3-4pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. ndiana is home to America’s largest salamander, called the Hellbender. It is only found in one Indiana river – the Blue River in Harrison County. Come and learn about this amazing aquatic animal, what makes it special, and what you can do to keep its habitat clean. This hands-on program will cover its adaptations, how water pollution affects it, and how amphibians have changed over geological time using a life-size model of Ichthyostega, the oldest amphibian in the fossil record.  Program free.

  • Good Times Summer Concert Series: 6-11pm. A large community concert will be held each month on the Central Green outside of the Bolt+Tie complex, located at 1400 Main Street, Clarksville, Indiana.  The events will feature live music, food trucks, and a beer garden by Ten20 Craft Brewery. Free event.

  • Trilobite Art - Family Nature Club: 3-4pm. Falls of the Ohio State Park. Decorate a 3-D printed trilobite and learn about these curious ancient creatures. When did they live? What do they look like? Led by Naturalist at Heart volunteer Bob Thesier. Your $2 program fee is covered by a grant from the Falls of the Ohio Foundation. Meets in the picnic area.

  • Singin’ In the Rain: 6pm, Derby Dinner Playhouse. Hollywood of the 1920’s is the setting for this light-hearted and romantic MGM classic filled with show-stopping dance numbers and memorable music. Grab your umbrella, it will rain on stage! Tickets Required.
