Wiggles & Giggles Learning Lab

10am-12pm. Griffin Recreation Center New Albany, IN. The Learning Lab offers a range of playful learning opportunities for young children. Monthly sensory bins, engaging STEM activities, and creative crafts are just a few of the adventures awaiting your little ones! Free event. Ages 5 and under.

Sensory Friendly Storytime

4-4:45pm. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Sensory Friendly Storytime is a special storytime for children who may have felt left out or nervous to go to other storytimes.

Community Language Learn: Spanish

4-5pm. Galena Digital Library. 6954 US-150, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119. Join us at the Galena Digital Library in taking the first steps to learning a new language! Connect with other eager learners in the community to practice together and develop Spanish speaking skills. We will be utilizing Mango Languages and partnering with Indiana University Southeast Professor Amy Zink to provide multiple forms of learning Spanish with a Q&A after the introduction. Registration required.

K-5: Blackout and Magazine Poetry

6-7pm. Clarksville Library. Celebrate National Poetry Month by joining Ms. Monica to create your very own blackout and/or magazine cutout poetry. The library will provide all supplies needed, all you need to bring is your creativity. 

Music Bingo Mondays

7-9pm. The Earl. Recurring weekly on Monday. New Albany IN. Free event.

Dawn at the Downs Dining

7am. Churchill Downs. Upgrade your Dawn at the Downs experience with a delicious buffet breakfast on Millionaires Row and in the Stakes Room. Dawn at the Downs Dining may only be purchased for April 27th. Dawn at the Downs Dining tickets should be purchased in advance, limited tickets may be available day of. Tickets required.

Bouncetime at SIGS

9am-12pm. SIGS Gym New Albany. Offered weekdays M-F. Fun open play for friends under 54”. Two large bounce houses, a huge slide, trampolines, a foam pit, and lots of space to run, jump, and play! $8/child or $40 punch card for 6 visits or multiple kids.

Tot Time at SIGS

9:30-11am. SIGS Gym New Albany. Offered Mondays & Wednesdays. Limited to first 20 child participants. Our TOT SPOT program is for children 3 and under for socialization, movement, and music. Students will meet in our Launch Pad UPSTAIRS and complete some obstacles, and there will be music, games, and storytime. One adult may enter with a child.

It’s a Small World Storytime

11am-12pm. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. You're invited to join us each week as we learn about themes like kindness, empathy, and family through different stories, songs, and crafts from around the world. This storytime is designed with kids ages 3-6 in mind, but all kids and families are welcome. Join us every Tuesday at 11am to discover if it really is a small world after all. 

Mother Goose On the Loose

1-2pm. Galena Digital Library. 6954 US-150, Floyds Knobs, IN 47119. Mother Goose on the Loose is an early literacy, interactive, lapsit storytime that uses rhymes and songs to help pre-reading children get ready for school and reading. This fun-filled 30 minute session, for infants to 23 months and caregivers (older siblings are welcome), will incorporate music, movement, repetition, positive reinforcement, nursery rhymes, puppets, musical instruments, colored scarves, and short book readings.  After the storytime, we'll have 30 minutes of play and social time.  *Adult participation is required in order to strengthen bonds between caregiver and child. It is most beneficial when children experience the program on a weekly basis and each caregiver will be given a lesson to follow along and practice at home.

Create & Chat: Clay Creations

5-6pm. Galena Branch. This month's Color & Create project is Clay Creations. This program is for ages 11-18, we'll provide supplies and snacks so registration is recommended. Each month we focus on different outlets for creative expression or a relaxing hands-on activity.  If you enjoy a plethora of creative projects or hobbies, this is a fun way to connect with other creative creatures!  What creative hobby have you been working on?  What are you currently reading?  Bring what you've been reading or working on and chat while you create!

Pajama Time Stories

6-6:45pm. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Join us for a Pajama Party every Tuesday evening at the New Albany Library! Come in your pajamas and bring a favorite blanket and stuffed animal if you like. The children's librarians will lead our Pajama Storytime with fun "bedtime" stories, rhymes and songs. Make this special storytime a part of your family's regular weekly bedtime routine.

Jeopardy Bar League

7-9pm. Dog Haus Biergarten New Albany. JEOPARDY! Bar League, the official bar trivia experience from America’s Favorite Quiz Show is at Dog Haus Biergarten every Tuesday! Free event.

502’s Day

Gates open 11:30am. Churchill Downs. 502’sDay returns for its fourth year, shining the spotlight on what truly makes this city special – the community. General Admission is $5. Guests are encouraged to “Shop Local” and wear outfits from Louisville’s local shops and boutiques. Tickets required.

Pre-K Storytime

11-11:45am. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Pre-K Storytime helps children ages 3-5 get ready for kindergarten with stories, songs, and fun activities that build early literacy and social skills. Siblings are welcome! No registration required.

Baby’s Afternoon Out

1-2pm. Cultural Arts Center. 201 E Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Join us for an afternoon of early literacy fun for babies! There will be stories, songs, and sensory activities for babies to interact with at the end of the program. Registration required.

Kid’s Club

4-5pm. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Come hang out each Wednesday and enjoy a different activity each week. Activities will range from play-doh to crafts to LEGOs! For Kids ages 6-11 years old. No registration required.

The Great Steamboat Race

4:30-7:30pm. Ohio River. The Great Steamboat Race is an annual race that occurs on the Wednesday before the Kentucky Derby every year.  The Belle of Louisville races vs the Belle of Cincinnati. Tickets can be purchased for each boat which provides food, drinks, and live entertainment. Viewing from the shore is free.

Ready, Set, Steam: Steamboat Race Day Brunch

11am-1pm. The Carriage House at The Howard Steamboat Museum. Get ready to rev up for Steamboat Race Day with a beautiful brunch, great atmosphere, a historical talk by Museum Director and Historian Travis C. Vasconcelos and a tour of The Howard Steamboat Museum before you head over to the water to enjoy the days festivities! Fueling your body and your mind with a new tradition on our side of the river. Get away from over crowded restaurants with the same old backsplash. Enjoy a morning and early afternoon on our beautiful 2.5 acre campus where the history of Steamboats and "The Great Race" are at your fingertips! Tickets required.

Winsday

Gates open at 11:30am. Churchill Downs. In partnership with the Community Foundation of Louisville, local nonprofit organizations will be invited to fundraise and highlight the work they do to make Louisville a more vibrant place to live, work and play.  By purchasing Winsday tickets through a registered nonprofit, guests will directly contribute to these vital agencies, with a portion of each ticket sale benefiting their incredible work. Be a part of something bigger, support the community, and enjoy a day at the races! Tickets required.

Hairspray the Broadway Musical

6pm. Apr 01, 2026 - May 17, 2026. Derby Dinner Playhouse. “You Can’t Stop The Beat” of this Broadway Musical Comedy! Take a trip back to 1962 with Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with even bigger hair, as she sets out to dance her way onto the popular Cory Collins show. Along the way she tries to bring about integration on the show and win the heart of the boy of her dreams. Move & Groove Storytime

Join us at Galena on Thursdays as we move and groove to some fun books, basic rhythms and rhymes, and different music genres!  We'll use things like a drum, hand bells, rhythm sticks, egg shakers, or scarves in this lively and interactive storytime.  Moove & Groove will help build early literacy skills, social interaction, and blossoming young music lovers!

Homeschool Game Club

10:30am-12pm. New Albany Central Library. 180 W Spring St, New Albany, IN 47150. Kids ages 6–12 (and their siblings) are invited to play fun board and card games, build teamwork and problem-solving skills, and make new friends. A weekly social and educational space just for homeschool families!

Fairy Tales from Around the World by Ky Shakespeare

3-4pm. Galena Branch. Students explore the history, culture, geography, and oral traditions surrounding fairy tales as they perform three timeless stories from different regions and eras with other children participating.  Fairy Tales from Around the World is an excellent introduction to drama and storytelling, using performance to build teamwork and self-confidence while simultaneously exploring the many lessons and morals found within folk tales! Registration required.

Teen Scene

6-7:30pm. New Albany Central Library. Hang out with us every Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30pm in the Teen Scene! Take a break in the middle of the week with a new activity, game, craft, or anything else we dream up, plus snacks! All kids ages 11-18 welcome.

First Friday Concert

New Albany Main Library. na Skylark, which loosely means "the Skylark" in Irish, is a Central Kentucky-based trio that shares the rich beauty of ancient traditional  Celtic music through voice, Irish harp, Irish uilleann pipes, Irish fiddle, Irish whistles, flutes, Irish bodhran, and a little Appalachian  mountain dulcimer for good measure.

Kentucky Oaks

Gates open at 11am. Churchill Downs. The Longines Kentucky Oaks, now celebrating its 152nd running, is America’s premier race for 3-year-old fillies. Held each year the day before the Kentucky Derby, the Oaks offers a $1.5 million purse and awards the winner the iconic 'Lilies for the Fillies' garland. As one of the longest-running sporting events in U.S. history, the Oaks is steeped in tradition and meaning.
